Truth about Sex

This whole truth series has been challenging for me. God has been challenging the way I think about everything...music, money, and the way I spend my time, just to mention a few things. We have been brain washed by the message of the world for too long. The Bible tells us that we need to stop conforming (thinking, acting, sounding like) to the pattern of the world, and be transformed by the renewing of our minds. That means when it comes to certain topics we need to erase what we have heard from the world and look to the Bible for answers. After all, it is our manual for living.

With that being said...I talked about sex last night. The devil tells us lies that we believe all the time. Lies like: it's your body and you can have sex if you want to, you can fool around and still be a virgin, and sex is evil. The truth is that you were bought with a price (Jesus died on the cross for our sins), we need to FLEE from ALL sexual immorality, and that God created sex to be ENJOYED inside a marriage relationship. Any sexual sin that we have committed causes us to become defiled and we need the blood of Jesus Christ to wash us clean. He gives us His commandments for our own protection, and as Jeanne Mayo says, "We are free to ignore the commands of God, but we are never free to avoid the consequences." We can either listen to God and walk in His protection or we can disobey Him and face the consequences like STDs, pregnancies, and long term emotional scarring. God wants us to be faithful to Him and our spouse.

Just remember that the heart is wicked above all else, and no matter how strong we think we are in our faith, we need to be careful of what situations we get ourselves into. With that being said, I think that you have to be very careful how you approach dating before you are ready for marriage. Having boundaries and your parents' consent is a good start, but you need to commit the relationship to God and be willing to give it up if He asks you to. As with everything in life, God needs to be in control and Lord of every situation.
